CIVIL ENGINEERING DESIGN & STUDIES

Civil engineering is the oldest engineering in the world. It uses the knowledge of math and science applied with judgement to create solutions for the day by day civilization needs. It covers a wide range of disciplines.

MenDeg has over eighteen years of combined experience providing civil engineering design for private and public industries. We use our construction field experience with our knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques in our designs, which add value engineering to the project.

First class engineering.

Hydrologic & Hydraulic Studies

MenDeg has vast experience in the water resources field, including the preparation of hydrologic-hydraulic (H-H) studies related to: floodplain analysis, storm sewer modeling, encroachment analysis, channel designs, detention analysis, bridge modeling, bridge scour analysis, river modeling, flood hazard analysis and flood map amendment / revision studies.

Bridge Scour Modeling

Bridge scour is the engineering term use for the removal of sediment around (surrounding) a bridge foundation (piers and/or abutments). Bridge scour occurs when fast-moving water around a bridge removes sediment from around the bridge foundation, leaving behind scour holes. These holes, in turn, can seriously compromise the integrity of the bridge structure.

MenDeg staff possess the technical knowledge and expertise to estimate the maximum scour condition of an existing bridge, and provide practical bridge scour countermeasures to minimize the bridge risk of failure during a flood event.

We also can determine the maximum scour condition of a proposed bridge and provide recommendations of the appropriate type and elevation for a proposed bridge footings.

Permitting

The permitting process is performed to receive the authorization required by the local and federal government agencies for the planning and construction of projects. By this process the regulatory agencies ensures the compliance of the construction according to the applicable building codes and regulations established for the country.

We have considerable experience in the permitting area for both local and federal agencies. Our knowledge includes, but not limited to:

  • Preparation of Construction and Use Permits
  • General Consolidated Permit
  • NPDES Phase II Permit Requirements [Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Notice of Intent (NOI)
  • Preparation of permits and regulatory compliance documents for the local Planning Board
  • Presentation at Public or Administrative Hearings as requiered by local regulations for certain proposed development projects
